Bakersfield Graduate Receives Community Support After Chance Encounter Following Ceremony By Califield Lives BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — What began as an ordinary livestream turned into an emotional moment of compassion and support for a local high school graduate trying to make it home after one of the biggest nights of his life. Alex, creator of the local livestream channel Califield Lives, says he met 18-year-old Christien sitting alone at a bus stop shortly after graduating from Vista West High School. Still wearing his cap and gown, Christien had just finished walking the stage — a moment many students celebrate surrounded by family and friends. But according to Alex, Christien was by himself that night because his family was unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony. “I seen him sitting there alone waiting for the bus after graduation,” Alex said during the livestream. “I offered him a ride home.” During the drive, Christien shared more about his accomplishments and future goals. He explained that he graduated with his high school diploma while maintaining over a 3.0 GPA and earning honor roll recognition. Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding graduation night, Christien remained focused on the future. He told viewers he plans to attend college and pursue a career as a professional welder.
